Waterton Wildflowers

Can you name these flowers below? Did you know there are over 2,000 varieties of dandelions?

From edible plants to botanical imposters, there is a fascinating world waiting to be discovered. Let’s decode them together.

They don't call Waterton the "Wildflower Capital of Canada" for nothing. With over 1,000 plant species, our mountains essentially turn into a giant, showy botanical garden. While the formal, multi-day 2026 festival schedule is still pending, the flowers are definitely still showing up. Early blooms hit the town in May, but if you want the full, high-alpine color spectacle, you will want to be here between mid-June and late July.

A Note on the "Wild" Part of the Park

There is zero cell service at the trailhead. Consider this your invitation to unplug! Since we’ll be digitally off-grid, we won’t be able to answer last-minute questions on the morning of the tour. Check your email before you leave town!
