Where to Crash in Waterton
[The Latest Scoop: November 24, 2023]

Welcome to our little corner of the South Canadian Rockies! Because Waterton is a "small town with big views," the secret is out, rooms here go fast. If you’re looking to save drive time and maximize trail time, grab your reservation ASAP.

We’re a year-round destination (just don’t forget your Park Pass!), and we’ve noted which spots stay open for the winter warriors. Browse the stays below, find your vibe, and then let’s get outside! Book a tour with Waterton Tours by Uplift Adventures to turn a "good" trip into a "can we stay forever?" adventure.

If 'roughing it' is more your speed, our two campgrounds have you covered: stay at the Townsite camp to keep the pizza shops in sight, or head to Belly River to officially get off the grid and under the stars.

One of the coolest things about Waterton? You won’t find any giant, cookie-cutter hotel chains here. Aside from the iconic Prince of Wales (which is its own brand of legendary), almost every spot in town is family-run.

It’s that 'know-your-neighbor' charm that makes staying here feel less like a transaction and more like you’re part of the village for a few days.

Small Town Soul

Open Season: Year Round

Think of this as the cool, rustic grandpa of Waterton stays. Crandell Mountain Lodge has been keeping guests cozy since 1940, and it hasn't lost an ounce of its alpine charm. It’s unapologetically lodge-y, the kind of place where you actually want to kick off your boots and swap stories by the fire. No sterile hotel vibes here; just country comfort and a lot of history.

You can’t keep a Southern Alberta icon down. After a long-awaited return, the Kilmorey Lodge is officially back and better than ever. It’s got all the soul of the original 1926 landmark but with a fresh, modern energy that makes it feel brand new. It’s the perfect place to hang your hat after a day of outings, especially since there’s a world-class pub and dining room ready for you right downstairs.

Looking for a spot that has literally everything? You found it. Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort sits right in the middle of town and has a room for every squad, from generous king suites to big family apartments. The real hero here, though? That onsite pool and hot tub for when your legs are officially done with hiking. It’s comfy, pet-friendly, and basically the center of the Waterton universe.

It’s the iconic silhouette on the hill, and trust us, the view from the inside is even better. Staying at the Prince of Wales is less about a hotel room and more about soaking up the best seat in the park. It’s historic, bold, and definitely the place where you’ll want to linger over a coffee (or something stronger) just a little longer than planned.

Open Season: Year Round

Your legs are tired, your camera roll is full, and you’re ready to officially retire for the day. Enter: Waterton Glacier Suites. We’ve got the fireplaces and the mountain views covered, but the real win? You’re so close to everything that you won't even have to put your hiking boots back on to find dinner. Settle in, get cozy, and just enjoy the vibe.
