Wildflower Walk

Step into the secret world hiding right beneath your hiking boots. Our wildflower walk goes way beyond simply pointing out pretty petals on a trail. Let's uncover the fascinating relationships that make the Waterton landscape tick.

The Quick Run Down

  • Meeting Location: Waterton Tours @ 101 Clematis Ave, Waterton (Find us inside the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort!)

  • Trail Location: Varies slightly depending on what's blooming, but we will always walk right from town.

  • Meeting Time: 9:00 AM or 2:00 PM

  • Duration: 3 hours of leisurely exploring.

  • Physical Difficulty: Easy. (A literal walk in the park.)

What to expect

As we wander the easier trails of Waterton Lakes National Park, your expert guide and resident plant nerd will help you decode the backcountry. You’ll discover the wild strategies these plants use to survive, from seeds hitching a ride on passing wildlife to blooms outsmarting the mountain wind.

Although fun to give it a try, there is no need to memorize Latin plant names. It’s really about seeing the tiny, overlooked details that run this giant ecosystem. Every colour has a purpose, every patch of dirt has a story, and you're going to learn all about it.

Sunrise Peaks & Breakfast

Is it early? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Join us for an unforgettable morning as we greet the sun from the edge of the world. We’ll ascend the iconic Bear’s Hump with a sense of wonder, claiming a front-row seat to watch the Rockies wake up. Once the sky starts its morning light, we’ll celebrate with a delicious alpine breakfast at the summit. It’s the ultimate way to peak (literally) before most people have even found their socks.

The Quick Run Down

  • Meeting Location: Waterton Tours @ 101 Clematis Ave, Waterton (Inside the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort).

  • Meeting Time: One hour before sunrise. (Yes, really. Coffee is waiting).

  • Duration: 2 – 2.5 hours. You’ll be back in town before the brunch rush starts.

  • Physical Difficulty Rating: Intermediate. It’s short, but it’s steep.

What to expect

This brisk hike is short, yet steep and guaranteed to get your heart pounding. But every step is a bribe for the view at the top: first, the pale gold of the sun spilling over the prairies, then the mirror-sheen of Upper Waterton Lake, and finally the townsite below looking like a tiny watercolor painting.

Expect about 30-45 minutes of steady upward hiking on well-worn switchbacks and rocky steps. It’s a quad-burner, but accessible for fit beginners who don’t mind a little incline for a big reward. Along the ridge, we’ll snag a panoramic ledge to watch the morning unfold.

While you soak in the dawn, we’ll serve up steaming coffee or tea, fresh pastries, seasonal fruit, and something savoury to hit the spot. And while you have your mouth full, your guides will share the "inside scoop" on Waterton’s secrets, from interesting facts about geology to the tales of early expeditions.
